Pride for all: Everything you need to know about LGBT
Aug 26 2019

An initial which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, LGBT is a term which has come to define the newest wave of human rights struggles.

It is a term which has been in use since the early 1990s  and has come to define a broad umbrella of people who do not identify as either male or female.

These groups have been a victim of discrimination historically and still face a social stigma. Prejudices against them are based on their orientation, choice of partners, and even their bodies. Any rational man would now agree that none of these is something in control of any given person. You are who you are and you like who you like.

A brief past and a brighter present

Not long ago, we all lived in a time where heterosexual relationships were the norm of the day and any other kind of a relationship were looked down upon. People were intolerant and laws did not provide everybody with equal rights.

Over the course of time, a long struggle which started years ago  culminated into a global movement with limited success. Now the law in many countries has rushed to the support of these communities. Protests and rallies and no more a sign of desperation but hope. Even the term LGBT itself has expanded and has become LGBTQIAPK , to include Queer, Intersexual, Asexual, Pansexual, Kinks and the ‘ ’ representing all others which would be a part of this in the future. This represents the dynamism of the term and the entire movement as an assimilating force.

In the modern 21st Century, it is increasingly important to feel comfortable with who you are. Not just with your body, but with your mind, thoughts, feelings and emotions as well. This is where the advancements in medicine have now come to the aid of the LGBT community.

Figuring out your identity can be a challenging task in itself, but it’s especially difficult if you don’t fall in the traditional gender role categories.

It is a known fact that hormones are responsible for the way we feel. Medical science, through the manipulation of these hormones, can now also allow individuals to express themselves in the best manner possible. These techniques are known as LGBT Hormone Therapy.

LGBT Hormone Therapy

With this Hormone Replacement Therapy, the fluidity of your gender can now be understood and optimised. The HRT uses standard procedures and techniques to mould the levels of testosterone, estrogen, progesterone and DHEA in your body. What this allows for is for your experience to be better, so that you feel good about yourself and your body. The LGBT Hormone Therapy can help you if you’re transitioning, or have transitioned or even if you just don't feel comfortable within yourself.

A more recent, Integrative approach to the LGBT Hormone Therapy goes further than the reproductive hormones and takes others like Cortisol and Thyroid into account as well. This ensures that as soon as you walk out from the therapy, you’ll be a more comprehensive, and content individual, allowing you to live life your way.

The Pride movement has been one which has defined our entire generation. The fight for equal rights is at its peak now, and any way which one can contribute to it is indeed nothing less than noble.

The road is long and there are new advancements every day; surely there is a dire need of more research in this field, now more than ever, but it’s also important to appreciate how far we’ve come.

After all, the only choice you have to make  is to be yourself!
